Adobe Flat Design Flower Pot

Image
Though I did not hand-draw this project entirely, I did hand-draw some of the elements with a tablet. I think that with the new age of technology, we have so many more possibilities to create new art forms. I believe that it even redefines what “art” is…as in traditionalism. As there are many new ways to create art in this period of time, I could only imagine what art will look like in the future. In the Adobe tutorial, the instruction gave directions on how to make a basic pot. I really wanted to make this my own, so I took elements that he taught and explored it in my own way. I made a shadow underneath the pot to make the object more realistic and for the object to have a place in space and time. I also am familiar with Adobe Illustrator, so I used my knowledge of the pen tool to create a very basic shape to allow for more realism as dirt in the pot. Inspired by the tutorial, I strove to make a simplistic plant with basic Illustrator elements, so I thought that a succulent was p...

Obituary Project

Image
For this project, it was very difficult to transfer my vision of the obituary onto an existing idea...especially in regards to the photographs. I wanted to show his childhood, what he "looked" like when he passed away and where he is now. In the obituary, it states that, '"he suffered as a young man, and he did what he had to do to escape it."' His sister further explains that she revealed the siblings experienced physical abuse and a "chaotic childhood" that "forced them to conceal." With this photograph, I find that there is a connectivity between the two siblings. As with vintage photographs, most of the subjects do not smile. Yet taking a closer look, you can sense that there is a lot of pain behind the photograph itself. I thought this was a perfect example of the sister and the obituary's childhood. You can see the thoughts of how they want a different life. Specifically in the boy's face, you can see a sadne...

Abstract Landscape Ink Drawings

Image
With this project, I wanted to incorporate my own artistic ideas into the “art” of nature. By including my own thoughts and emotions into the paintings of landscapes, I discovered an abstract art form that is not only personal but beautiful. Even though nature is usually filled with colors, a story can still be explored in black and white. Even more so if there is an abstract twist on the picture. That’s why I believe that this project has a powerful insight into what the artist thinks about the world. Some of my paintings are more realistic than abstract, yet others are more abstract than realistic. I think this shows having a balance between the two can turn the art into a more complex series that shows even if you cannot control nature itself, you can control how you view your environment. Within the paintings, I included a lot of different values, shapes, lines and symbols to express my perspective about nature. Most of my paintings are scenes captured during the night. ...
