Masking Torn Paper Edges
I really liked this project. It was simple yet an extremely beneficial skill to know for future design processes. Even though the video was a bit slow, I enjoyed how he was figuring it all out as he was going. It was really relatable to the viewer as we were doing the same thing. I really liked creating this torn paper. I ripped up a piece of paper that was sitting on my desk that had text on the other side. I really liked how the image of the torn paper turned out. It reminded me of an old letter and I even got an effect of shading with just the lighting that made it look like a vintage piece of paper. I believe that these characteristics of the paper make it a lot more interesting to look at than just a simple blank piece of paper. I also chose this deep red color not just for contrast but also to conform to the “theme” of the vintage paper. I thought that this deep red could signify a stamp or a liquid mold as well if someone were to write on it. I also think that my drop shadow turned out really well. I wanted to make my image more realistic, so I adjusted the shadow properties to match the patterns and shapes of the ripping of the paper. I think that the shadow really adds a space and more of a story to the paper.
